YouTube tests podcast management options in YouTube studio

YouTube is moving forward with its podcasting strategy with a new test of the capability to post and manage podcasts via the YouTube Studio app.

As per YouTube:

“To make it easier for creators to distribute their podcasts on YouTube, we’re running an experiment that allows you to create a podcast or set an existing playlist as a podcast within Studio.”

The ‘Create‘ section of YouTube Studio will allow participants in the trial to upload a podcast. Additionally, a new Podcasts tab will be added to the ‘Content‘ menu where you can access all of your podcasts.

Additionally, YouTube is currently developing new analytics for podcasts that will give podcast-specific performance information and make it simpler to measure your podcast content apart from your video uploads.

As it works to keep up with the rising audio usage, YouTube has been progressively adding more podcast tools. The network now boasts more than 77 million paying members for YouTube Music, and while visual content is still the main focus of the platform’s overall offering, there is still clearly a sizable audience for audio-only content.

Some users stated that a new podcast tab in the app was available to them in August of last year.

It makes sense for YouTube to broaden its horizons in this manner and give a more comprehensive media offering for its creative talent, which now also encompasses both short- and long-form video. This is because many well-known YouTubers are also hosting their own podcasts.

On podcasts, things are still going slowly, but this new inclusion is a move in the right way.
