Apple has finally built a smart home display, and India is on the launch list from day one. HomeView was introduced at Apple’s “Welcome Home” event on October 13, 2026, with pre-orders opening the same day and sales starting on November 13.

There was a short stretch of confusion on launch day. A couple of early reports said Apple hadn’t confirmed anything for India, but the rupee price has since appeared on Apple’s India store, so the launch is confirmed. Here’s what you’re actually getting, what it costs, and who it makes sense for.
Apple lists HomeView at ₹39,900 in India, and that price is the same for every version. There are tabletop models in Rose Pink, Space Gray, Silver and Starlight, plus wall-mounted versions in Silver and Space Gray. Apple’s page shows EMI starting at ₹3,620 a month, with terms listed on the store page.

Pre-orders are open through Apple’s online store and the Apple Store app, and the device goes on sale on November 13. Reports say it launched in India alongside a new HomePod Mini and Apple TV 4K, though this piece is only about HomeView.
HomeView is a 7-inch square Liquid Retina touchscreen sitting on a speaker base. Coverage lists a 1,088 x 1,088 pixel panel with True Tone and a peak brightness of 500 nits, dimming to 0.3 nits so it’s usable as a bedside display. It runs on Apple’s A18 chip.
It can recognise up to six people and give each a personalised Home Screen with their own apps and widgets. Apple says personal content stays restricted to the recognised user, while shared items such as family photo albums and music remain open to the household. Beyond that, it handles FaceTime calls with Center Stage, Apple Music, Podcasts and Apple TV, along with compatible third-party entertainment apps. On the smart home side, it can show up to nine live camera feeds at once and works with compatible Matter accessories.
Most coverage agrees that the screen is the packaging and the rebuilt Siri is the product. HomeView is described as the first device to ship with Siri AI, Apple’s upgraded assistant built on its next generation of Apple Intelligence. It supports more natural conversation, music discovery and awareness of what’s on screen, and a conversation started in the kitchen can reportedly continue in the Siri app on an iPhone or Mac.
Three details matter for Indian buyers.
First, it works in English in India from launch. One report also describes Siri AI as being in beta and limited to English, so don’t expect Hindi or other regional languages yet.
Second, the smartest version needs a newer phone. To use personal context from apps like Messages and Calendar, HomeView has to be paired with an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone or iPad. Apple’s release says setup itself requires a compatible iPhone or iPad, and no Android option is mentioned, so an Android-only household can’t set it up.
Third, privacy. Reports say Siri requests are handled either on the device or through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute. One outlet also reports that the new Siri uses technology from Google’s Gemini, but we only found that in one source, so treat it as reported rather than confirmed by Apple.
The US price is 9, which one report converts to roughly ₹26,000 before taxes and import costs. The Indian price of ₹39,900 is noticeably higher than that straight conversion. Pricing gaps like this are common for imported electronics because of duties, GST and local costs, but it does change the value equation. In the US, HomeView competes on price with Amazon and Google’s smart displays. In India, at nearly ₹40,000, it’s a premium purchase.
This section is analysis, not reporting.
HomeView looks like a good fit if your household already runs on iPhones and iPads, you use Apple Music or Apple TV, and you want a shared screen for FaceTime, reminders and home controls. The multi-user profiles are genuinely useful in a family where everyone has different calendars and messages.
It’s easier to wait if your household is mixed or Android-heavy, if you were hoping for regional-language voice support, or if your smart home setup relies on accessories that don’t support Matter. Siri AI also being early-stage means the experience may improve through updates, which is a fair reason to read independent reviews after the November 13 sale date before committing.
This section is also analysis. A device that answers questions in conversation, surfaces content from apps and recommends music and podcasts shifts a little of how people find things at home. If more households ask an assistant instead of typing a search, creators and publishers who produce clear, well-structured, quotable content have a better chance of being surfaced. It’s the same direction we’ve been tracking in the AI assistant race, from Meta’s Muse and OpenAI’s Dots to the AI features built into every major platform.
For podcasters and video creators specifically, HomeView’s Podcasts and Apple TV integration puts audio and video on a shared household screen, which could matter as a distribution surface over time. How much it does is something only real usage data will answer, and Apple hasn’t shared any yet.
HomeView is confirmed for India at ₹39,900, with pre-orders open now and sales from November 13. It’s a polished, Apple-only product whose real selling point is a new Siri that’s still early. If you live in the Apple ecosystem and like the idea of a family hub, it’s worth watching closely. If you don’t, there’s no rush.
