Whatsapp to allow users to preview voice messages

In a first of its kind, Meta-owned Whatsapp has rolled out a ‘preview’ option for voice messages before the sender hits the send button. After making a significant modification by introducing the default chat disappear feature earlier this month, Whatsapp is undertaking more ‘tests’ for different options and features into the app to augment the user experience.

Whatapp took to the microblogging site to tweet about its latest addition to the voice messages that will allow users to review their audio messages and listen to them before sending them to someone. It benefits the user in a way that they can process, filter, and revise their audio in a way they want. Unlike Facebook Messenger and Instagram, Whatsapp doesn’t have a time limit to the voice messages and can also be set at a particular speed limit.

To access the feature, the users need to follow the following steps:

  1. In an usual manner, press and hold the mic icon to record your voice note
  2. Slide up to go into hands-free recording mode
  3. Once done, tap the stop button in the center and press play to preview your message
  4. After getting the final version, hit send

It should be noted that none of the Meta-owned messenger apps including Messenger, Instagram have an inbuilt preview option for voice messages as o yet and Whatsapp is the first in line to introduce the feature.

the feature has been rolled out to all users and will be available on iOS and Android devices.

In other news, WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp beta tracker caught the messaging service testing a ‘pause voice message‘ option in October this year. Although Watsapp hasn’t commented officially on the update, it will surely add up to the user chat accessibility.

Whatsapp could be seen testing various updates and features to improve the voice notes looking at users’ feedback of choosing audio chats over text messages.
