Earlier this year we covered Twitter’s plan to roll out its own subscription based service, Twitter Blue. Now, Twitter has officially made it available to users in the United States and New Zealand across iOS, Android and web. Here’s all you need to know about Twitter Blue.
Before making it available in the US and New Zealand, Twitter Blue was introduced in Australia and Canada. Since then, Twitter has been “listening to and learning from the most passionate and vocal people on Twitter as to what will make their experience more customizable, more frictionless, and simply put – better.” While Twitter will continue to build on the feedback received. Let’s have a look at the latest model of Twitter Blue.
Twitter Blue members on desktop and iOS will “enjoy a fast-loading, ad-free reading experience when they visit many of their favorite news sites available in the US from Twitter, such as The Washington Post, L.A. Times, USA TODAY, The Atlantic, Reuters, The Daily Beast, Rolling Stone, BuzzFeed, Insider and The Hollywood Reporter.” says Twitter.
Building on their commitment to strengthen and support publishers and a free press. A portion of the revenue generated by the subscription fees goes to publishers within Twitter’s network. Twitter’s goal is to “help each publishing partner make 50% more per person than they would’ve made from serving ads to that person.”
Twitter Blue subscribers will be able to see the most-shared articles in the network for the last 24 hours. This will allow them to stay updated on the happenings in the community.
“Subscribers can add more flair to their Twitter experience with exclusive app icons and colorful themes and Bookmark Folders. We are also introducing Custom Navigation, which gives subscribers the ability to customize what appears in their navigation bar for quick access to the Twitter destinations they care about most.” says Twitter.
With the Undo Tweet option, subscribers will be able to review and edit their tweets before finally publishing them. Subscribers also have access to Reader, which turns long threads into an easier-to-read experience.
Subscribers of Twitter Blue will get early access to the features Twitter is testing. Currently subscribers will be able to upload videos of up to 10-minutes and pin their favorite conversations to the top of their DM’s
Twitter Blue is available for a monthly price of US $2.99 / NZ$ 4.49. To stay up to date on the latest features and announcements follow @TwitterBlue.
