Instagram is ready to let users repost other users’ posts and reels. The Meta-owned firm hasn’t made the repost option publicly available yet, but it intends to start testing it with a small number of users soon.
While people currently use this feature via third-party apps, the application is working towards creating an in-built feature for users to repost.
“We’re exploring the ability to reshare posts in Feed — similar to how you can reshare in Stories — so people can share what resonates with them, and so original creators are credited for their work,” a spokesperson from Meta told TechCrunch in an email. “We plan to test this soon with a small number of people.”
Social media consultant Matt Navara posted a tweet regarding the same questioning Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram.
Alessandro Paluzzi had written about the repost feature in May and now it’s again in talks, the feature might just be on the way.
Alessandro recently also tweeted about how Instagram will now give an option to gift subscriptions on Instagram and it is also working on the ability to show or hide your avatar from your profile.
Twitter, which offers the ability to “Retweet,” has made the repost feature more widely known. Currently, Instagram users can repost or share posts by adding them to their Stories, but this option has a 24-hour expiration date. The new functionality will provide users with a straightforward method to republish another user’s message in their feeds, though. This will also stop people from reposting Stories via outside applications.
The application has updates coming up each month. Keep following for more updates on the photo-sharing application which is more than
