Its no news that the OTT platforms have served as breeding ground for many hidden talents. They have bestowed stardom on artists beyond Bollywood. The digital platform is producing some of the best craftsmen that we’ve seen in the past years. The length of a series allows the audience to have an attachment with the character, rather than that of a movie.
Audience has adopted a digital friendly way of consuming content be it OTT or social media. One can actually see a shift from Big Cinema to OTT, it being more flexible and feasible to all. We are safe to say that these OTT stars have never let us down with their performances.
Gone are those days when the acting and cinema industry was driven by male characters. The entertainment world is witness to loads of web-series’ or movies that are powerfully led by female actresses.
Here’s a list of a few female leads of the OTT universe who not only drove the series to success but have etched a mark in everyone’s hearts with their performances.
Shefali made her film debut with Rangeela (1995), although she only had a few scenes in the film. She entered the television world with the serial Kabhie Kabhie.
Although she marked her footsteps in the web world with the short film that came out in 2017. Shefali has been crushing all the stereotypes related to sexist and ageist nature of this industry with her work.
Shreya had already stunned us with her talent in the web-series The Family Man and since then the fans are curious to see her in the second season as well.
Nevertheless Shreya had a quintessential role in the web-series Scam 1992 which was quite a hit. And hers was the most important character after Pratik Gandhi who played Harshad Mehta. Making her mark in the Mumbai Diaries which was an Amazon Original, she did all the justice to her character Mansi.
Gupta believes OTT platforms have come as a boon for artists who are actually blessed with considerable alternatives, which the massive display screen wouldn’t have supplied. Sayani has done some commendable work for OTT platforms in her career of almost a decade.
The Kolkata-born actress has earned a lot of fame from her character Damini in Four More Shots Please. And the fans are more than excited to see her in the second season. Sayani is constantly seen goofing around with her girl gang from the Four More Shots Please.
The Bandish Bandits fame made her Bollywood debut with Dear Maya in 2017. Her character Tamanna Sharma from Bandish Bandits, could certainly relate to that part of her character in the series. It would be fascinating to watch her in a completely new role once again on the screens and what her next big project would be.
Shweta is an Indian actress popularly known for the character of Golu Gupta in Mirzapur. Her bubbly and organic self has won a lot of hearts in her OTT career. She has also worked with the actor Vicky Kaushal back in the days for Masaan in 2015. We can’t wait to see more of her on the OTT realm.
