The National Board of Review recently declared Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon as the Best Film of the Year. This accolade follows a string of other awards for the epic, including, Scorsese himself earning the title of Best Director and Lily Gladstone taking home the honour for Best Actress. The board, composed of film enthusiasts and academics, lauded the film as a “stunning masterpiece” and highlighted its complexity, importance, and the profound impact it had.

Many others also shone brightly at the National Board of Review. Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers was notably recognised, along with Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, showcasing the diversity of exceptional films this year that explored various human complexities.
