HBO, Warner Bros and Max Original Series Will Now Stream On Jio Cinema

In the biggest news from the Entertainment Industry, The Warner Bros Discovery signed a new multi-year agreement with Viacom 18 that will bring the shows from the world-famous American studio for the Indian Audiences. Jio Cinema will be the streaming partner in India for content from HBO, Max Original and Warner Bros.

As per the details of the deal, all television series airing on HBO Originals,Max Originals and Warner Bros will stream on Jio Cinemas in India on the same day as the US. The deal will come into effect starting next month.

The Changing Tide

Viacom 18 and Warner Bros Discovery deal comes nearly a month after HBO Originals Content rights were taken away from Disney + Hotstar, its abode for a long long time. Disney+ Hotstar and the HBO Originals deal was called off, as Disney decided to not renew its contract. This really saddened the Indian audience who were ardent HBO series followers.

Jio Cinema, a streaming platform backed by Mukesh Ambani led Reliance got folded into Viacom 18 recently, a venture between Reliance and Paramount Global. Viacom 18 also earned the streaming rights for Indian Premier League which was earlier streamed on Disney + Hotstar.

What you can now watch on Jio Cinema?

After a month you can watch many globally acclaimed series on Jio Cinema. We have listed some of the most loved and anticipated shows from the Warner Bros Discovery banner.

HBO series include The Idol, Last Of Us, Succession, The Regime, etc.

Max Original series including Peacemaker, The Flight Attendant, Dune: The Sisterhood, etc.

This partnership will also give access to the huge Warner Bros film library of the existing and upcoming movies including The Harry Potter, Lord Of Rings and the DC Universe movies.

India has always been a strong viewership base for Discovery’s channel and Schwebig is pleased to be able to cater to the Indian audience. In a statement Mr Clement Schwebig said, ““Warner Bros Discovery’s brands are incredibly popular across India, and we are pleased to partner with Viacom18 to bring our premium HBO, Max Original and Warner Bros content to local fans. This new agreement demonstrates our commitment to South Asia as we seek to entertain audiences across more platforms, and further strengthens the scale of our regional business as a whole.”

This strategic partnership between Viacom 18 and Warner Bros Discovery is a huge milestone in terms of entertainment for Indian audiences. With the growing popularity of American shows, this venture is predicted to be a very profitable one for Jio Cinemas, taking the online streaming platform to newer heights.
