Instagram Shared 3 Ways to Show Up for the LGBTQ+ Community

Before the end of Pride month, Instagram shared “3 ways to show up for the LGBTQ+ community year-round.” The platform is giving valuable advice on how we can support the community beyond Pride season. Justin Nelson, Chance Mitchell, Peyton Dix, and Sana Javeri Kadri personally gave their tips and opinions in this context.

Let’s analyse the 3 tips on a simpler level, shall we?

Tip 1: Shop LGBTQ+ Businesses

Justin Nelson¸ Co-founder and President of the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) and Chance Mitchell,  Co-founder and CEO of NGLCC suggest we buy not only Pride stuff but other goods too from the LGBTQ+ businesses. They can provide us the same good that any other business can. So, it all depends on us whether we’re buying or not. If you’re interested in buying from them, then check out LGBTQIA+ Owned Small Businesses across Instagram by Google.

Tip 2: Support Organisations That Sustains The Work

Peyton Dix¸ Special Projects Editor of Instyle magazine advises us to always support organisations that aren’t only working during Pride month but are genuinely doing the work all year-round regardless of any validation and appreciation. We need to encourage such organisations so that their efforts are fruitful.

Tip 3: Embrace Queer Culture With Pride Year-Round

Sana Javeri Kadri, Founder-CEO of Dispora Co., bolsters us to celebrate Pride all year-round and not be restricted to only a month. Pride invigorates the queer culture in any way possible. It’s all about standing up for the LGBTQIA+ community and normalising it in society.

So, these were the three tips that Instagram shared with us in hope that the fire of Pride is carried on all year-round, and not remain just a month-centric term.
