From making audiences laugh online to lighting up the big screen, Aditya Thakare is living a dream many creators aspire to. Known for his witty, relatable comedy content, Aditya has made his Bollywood debut in Dhadak 2, the latest chapter in one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved romantic franchises.
Marking the milestone, Aditya shared an emotional Instagram note on July 31, a day before the film’s release:
“It’s crazy how a place can hold time.
Same theatre, 13 years apart – one where a boy dreamt, and the other where that dream arrived.
With my mom and dad beside me, both times.
Time doesn’t just pass. Sometimes, it brings you back home.”
A Leap from Content to Cinema
Aditya’s journey to Dhadak 2 didn’t follow a traditional route. Acting had always been his first love, but during the lockdown, he turned to creating videos online as a way to perform. His relatable sketches quickly gained traction, cementing his place as a creator who could make people laugh while staying authentic.
The transition to films happened almost unexpectedly. Aditya was approached for an audition, gave it a shot, and within a month, he found himself on set. “It all happened so fast, I barely had time to process it,” he says.
The Moment That Changed Everything
Finding out he was cast in Dhadak 2 was a memory Aditya won’t forget anytime soon. In his own words, it was “pure chaos” – dancing, crying, calling his parents, and then dancing again. The joy was shared by his family, who have been a constant source of support throughout his career.
From Short-Form to Big Screen
While the jump from shooting short-form content to performing in a feature film might seem huge, Aditya’s background actually helped ease the shift. Improvisation – a skill he honed while creating digital content – made it easier for him to adapt to the pace and demands of a film set.
Still, the experience came with its own challenges. Playing a character on a larger scale meant embodying someone’s emotions and journey for far longer than a 60-second reel would allow.
Behind the Scenes of Dhadak 2
The actor recalls one particularly memorable day on set – the moot court scene. He and a co-star were supposed to exchange a serious look after the principal scolds Neelesh. “But every time we made eye contact, we’d just burst out laughing,” Aditya shares. “It took us forever to get that shot right.” Those light-hearted moments were a welcome balance to the heavy themes the film explores.
Advice to Aspiring Creators
For young creators hoping to follow in his footsteps, Aditya has one piece of advice: “Hustle every day, and you’ll be surprised at how fast your dreams turn into reality. Consistency is key.”
With Dhadak 2 now in cinemas, Aditya Thakare’s journey from the digital world to the silver screen stands as a reminder that persistence, authenticity, and passion can open unexpected doors. And as he takes this first step into Bollywood, it’s clear that this is only the beginning for the actor-creator.
