Throughout the course of television history where we come across several gems, Anime has been one of the most cherished gifts. The genre redefines creativity and the entire thought process of creating something so special and unique. Netflix has observed the rise of anime too. It has also become one of the most popular genres on the OTT platform. In 2020, anime on Netflix was watched by over 120 million households! To catalyze the popularity of this genre. Netflix is giving creators a new space to make the next great anime.
Netflix is launching its first-ever Anime Creators’ Base which is located inside their new Tokyo office. “This community space will host designers, writers, and Netflix team members working on bolstering our amazing anime lineup. From this space, we want to promote best practices and high production standards, to empower creators with the necessary tools and resources of anime production over time.” says Netflix.
The Anime Creators’ Base consists of three areas:
“Development of conceptual art is an important part of the creative process, but occasionally, this step is skipped because of limited bandwidth or time. When a project has conceptual art, every single staff member involved can visualize what the environment, cultural background, or character of the show might look like. With this additional creative step, we can drive even richer, more visually-oriented communication with creative partners. We hope focusing on this important step in the creative process will ultimately help produce the best possible show.” says Netflix.
At its opening the Anime Creators’ Base will focus on developing conceptual art to support creators and production studios during pre-production. Moving forward, Netflix wants to continue its support to the anime genre by giving its partners the space and all the resources. While it happens enjoy the tour of Netflix’s new Netflix Anime Creators Base!
