The trend gained momentum following the alleged suspension of a popular meme account named Liam Nissan, a playful nod to actor Liam Neeson. Netizens swiftly mobilised under the FreeLiamNissan hashtag, expressing their discontent and demanding the reinstatement of the suspended account, allegedly by Elon Musk.

Central to the outcry is the belief among many users that Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and a prominent figure on social media, played a role in the suspension of Liam Nissan’s account. Users have pointed fingers at Musk, accusing him of breaching free speech despite his public advocacy for it.
