Citadel- Amazon Prime’s Latest Action Thriller Series Is Here

Citadel is an American action thriller that aired on Amazon Prime Video on April 28, 2023. 2 episodes of the ongoing series were premiered on its first day and henceforth one episode will be released every week. The show is created by Josh Applebaum, Bryan Oh and David Weil. 

Citadel, a global spy organisation that works towards protecting the people. Their allegiance is not to any intelligence agency but only towards a humanitarian cause of protecting citizens around the world. For many Citadel is just a myth.

The Plot

The story revolves around the top spies of Citadel, Nadia Sinh played by Priyanka Chopra and Mason Kane played by Richard Madden, who together are called “Hot stuff.”

The series starts off with Nadia Sinh and Mason Kane acting on a tip, in a luxury train in the Italian Alps, while communicating with their handler, Bernard Orlick (played by Stanley Tucci.)  Mrs Jonas looks ravishing in the open sequence in a Red ribbed body-con dress. Mason Kane and Priyanka Chopra play the part of spies pretty well as they fight the villain army in a steamy action sequence. 

Manticore, an organisation formed by wealthy families across the globe, targets the agents of Citadel one after the other. The tiff sequence between Nadia and Mason was also an attempt by Manticore to kill the top spies of Citadel.

The two spies survive the attack but their memories are erased and they lose every understanding of them being spies. Citadel agents must now remember their past, which is stored in tiny vials in the mystery briefcase. As Citadel experiences a near deathblow, the power of Manticore increases and they get on this unchecked ride to amass wealth. Will the agents of Citadel be able to restore themselves and fight the Manticore? Only time will tell. 

The Global Phenomenon

The highly dramatic action thriller, Citadel is viewed as a global series that will air in more than 200 countries in different regional and international languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. The Indian series will be directed by Raj & Dk of the Family Man fame. It will star Varun Dhawan, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Sikander Kher in the lead roles.

The Italian series on the other hand will be produced by Amazon and ITV Studios.

Citadel- So far

It would be difficult to give a final verdict on the show just by watching 2 episodes. Going by the initial look of the show, it looks like a well-made show with jam-packed action sequences and a hell lot of drama. The six-episode series uses the latest technology and know-how to make the audience believe that a Century old organisation, Citadel, is capable of protecting the world from the wealthiest people. Under-layered with political backing, the show will stir many plot twists and betrayals. 

There are mixed reviews of the show but the work of lead actors Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas is being appreciated by the netizens. They look perfectly capable of doing the action sequences and fit the part of the spies. The Russo Brothers, known for their spy thrillers, are the Executive Producers of the show and believe in its potential.
