“12th Fail”, “Animal”, And “Rocky Aur Rani” Win Big At The Filmfare Awards 2024

The Filmfare Awards returned to honour the finest performances, filmmaking, storytelling and technical excellence in the Hindi film industry. This year, the 69th Hyundai Filmfare Awards 2024 took place in GIFT City, Gujarat. The two-day celebration was hosted by Karan Johar, Ayushmann Khurrana and Maneish Paul, the star-studded night saw dazzling red-carpet appearances, breathtaking performances and inspiring winning moments.

The prestigious Black Lady is the epitome of credibility and success in the realm of Indian cinema and the industry’s finest talents took home the coveted trophy. Power couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt dominated the 69th edition of the Filmfare Awards by bagging top honours for their performances in films released last year.

The Winners

Ranbir was crowned Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) for his performance in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s controversial film ‘Animal‘, while Alia won Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female), her 5th Filmfare Award for her performance in Karan Johar’s romantic family drama Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra was recognised as the Best Director, with his biographical drama ‘12th Fail‘ being crowned Best Film, triumphing over Animal, Atlee Kumar’s Jawan, Amit Rai’s OMG 2, Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan and Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

On the other hand, Devashish Makhija’s thriller Joram won the Filmfare award for Best Film (Critics’), while Vikrant Massey (12th Fail), Rani Mukerji (Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway), and Shefali Shah (Three Of Us) took home the prestigious Black Lady after being named best actors by the critics.

Everyone Is Lauding “12th Fail”

It takes a very well-made film to make the entire industry come together and collectively root for it. Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s “12th Fail” starring Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar has done exactly that. Anand Mahindra lauded the exceptional movie in his post on X.

Earlier, after watching 12th Fail, the businessman took to X to share his review of the film. He wrote, “Finally saw ‘12th Fail’ over this past weekend. If you see only one film this year, make it this one.” He further expressed his views about the plot, acting, narrative style and highlights in the film. He concluded the post with, “Mr Chopra, yeh dil maange more films like this!”

The netizens showcased a range of emotions for the winners. Some people are super happy about “12th Fail” getting the recognition it deserves, some are disappointed that Shah Rukh Khan and his “Jawan” didn’t win bigger titles while some have mixed emotions about “Animal” winning 6 awards.

“Jamal Kudu” from ‘Animal‘ has been loved by one and all. The Internet was listening and dancing to it on a loop. At Filmfare too, they got Orry to do the signature dance step introduced by Lord Bobby and the audience members joined in too. An X user wanted to capture the ‘12th Fail‘ cast do it and got Orry too.

Another X user lauded Filmfare’s ability to recognise Ranbir’s underrated performances while showcasing the Filmfare award history for the ace actor.
